1st Annual Conference of the EPIP Association

Economics, Law and Policy of Intellectual Property

The EPIP Association will hold its 1st Annual Conference on Sept. 7 and 8, 2006 in Munich. The following Issues will be addressed:

  • the interdisciplinary analysis of IP administration, institutions, and practice in Europe and other regions
  • comparative analysis of national and international institutions and practice
  • examination of the relationship between legal and economic approaches to IP
  • new findings and approaches to policy-relevant legal and economic analysis of IP
  • metrics for IP quality and business use
  • empirical analysis of legal and business practices in IP
  • evaluation of the benefits, costs, and risks of IP protection, enforcement, and defense
  • market-based mechanisms for managing IP rights
  • relationship of IP to other means of promoting innovation
  • accommodation of legal regimes and practice to different technologies, market conditions, and political values
  • institutional capacity and the use of economic information in European IP administration, adjudication, and policy development

Conference Fee:                    150.00 €

The conference fee includes all conference materials, lunches, the conference dinner and a one-year membership fee for the EPIP Association. For support of travel (economy airfare) and hotel accomodation, a limited budget is available. Reimbursement will be on an application basis only. All contributors (presenters and discussants) are eligible for reimbursement, but junior researchers will be given preference. Contributors may apply for support at the time of registration.
